The stage is set, and history is unfolding at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, where Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially begun her daring attempt to cook the largest pot of Jollof rice in the world.

The Guinness World Record holder, who previously captured global attention with her cookathon marathon, has once again ignited excitement across Nigeria as she aims to prepare 4,000 kilograms of raw rice in celebration of World Jollof Day.

Hilda’s announcement of the challenge had stirred anticipation online for weeks, but the buzz reached new heights when it was revealed that over 20,000 people registered to witness the culinary spectacle live.

In an emotional moment before the cooking began, Pastor Bolaji of Harvesters International Christian Centre was seen praying passionately for Hilda, asking for strength and success in her record-breaking journey. Close friend and media personality Enioluwa also made the day extra special by presenting her with a bouquet of flowers, a gesture that brought a smile to her face.

Behind the scenes, the magnitude of the project became clear when a TikTok clip revealed the mountains of onions, tomatoes, gallons of oil, cartons of spices, and other ingredients that had arrived at the venue.

Nigerians across social media are already calling the event one of the biggest cultural highlights of the year, with many eager to see Hilda carve her name once again into history books — this time, with a steaming pot of legendary Nigerian Jollof.
