The African Action Congress (AAC) has strongly condemned the Bola Tinubu administration for deploying military forces against alleged coup plotters fleeing the Benin Republic.
In a statement on Tuesday, AAC National Publicity Secretary, Rex I. Elanu, said the swift military action exposes what the party described as the government’s selective use of power and misplaced priorities.
According to the AAC, while Nigerians continue to face rampant kidnappings, killings, and widespread insecurity, the government suddenly demonstrates “flawless coordination and lethal efficiency” only when protecting regime interests or pursuing foreign interventions.
The party argued that the operation in Benin Republic highlights an administration “more committed to defending elite power structures than ensuring the safety of its own citizens,” citing persistent failures in national security and public welfare.
“Nigeria does not lack capacity; it lacks commitment to the lives of its people,” the statement added.
The AAC further urged Nigerians to resist government negligence, calling for organised civic action to reclaim the country from what it views as an unresponsive and self-serving leadership.
The party also expressed solidarity with the citizens of Benin Republic, warning against any move that could destabilise neighbouring West African nations.
“AAC reaffirms that Nigeria belongs to its people. The time has come to organise, resist, and take it back,” the statement concluded.
