The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Motomori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, has approved the introduction of online applications for lawyers seeking appointment as Notaries Public of Nigeria.
The Supreme Court described the initiative as a landmark move to modernize and simplify the appointment process for legal practitioners.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Festus Akande, announced that lawyers can now apply digitally, replacing the previously cumbersome paper-based system.
According to the statement, the decision highlights the judiciary’s commitment to digital transformation, efficiency, and broader accessibility in the legal profession.
“This marks a new era of convenience and transparency for aspiring Notaries Public. The digital platform will streamline applications, cut administrative bottlenecks, and ensure faster processing,” the statement read.
The Court further noted that the secure and user-friendly portal has been designed to guide applicants through each step of the process, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience.
