The Kogi State Government has launched a full-scale security operation after armed bandits attacked a Cherubim and Seraphim church in Ejiba, Yagba West LGA, abducting the pastor and several worshippers.
A video posted on Facebook by Egbe Emekun Parrot and credited to Olusegun Iselaiye shows a state-deployed helicopter and an anti-kidnapping squad sweeping the area in search of the attackers. The incident occurred earlier today, November 30, 2025, triggering fear across the community.
The pastor, popularly known as Orlando, was taken alongside an unconfirmed number of congregants during the assault. Residents say the attackers stormed the church during worship, forcing people to flee for safety.
Footage obtained by Prime Bulletin shows the church in disarray, with personal items—including shoes and Bibles—abandoned in the chaos. The person filming the scene, speaking in Yoruba, appealed for immediate help, confirming the abduction of the pastor and others.
This attack adds to a disturbing pattern of assaults on places of worship in Kogi and neighbouring states. On November 18, 2025, bandits invaded Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Isegun, in Kwara State, killing five and kidnapping 38 worshippers. The victims were later released on November 23 after a coordinated effort by security agencies. Authorities in Kogi say efforts are ongoing to track the perpetrators and secure the release of the latest victims
