The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elective convention is gaining momentum as top party leaders from across the country continue to troop into the venue. By 1:35 p.m., the stadium was nearly filled, with accreditation successfully completed for delegates from 17 of the 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory.
Although the convention was initially scheduled to commence at 10 a.m., organisers shifted the start time to 4 p.m. to accommodate delegates traveling from distant parts of the country.
Meanwhile, movement around the stadium has become difficult for residents and commuters. All motor parks in the area have been shut down to ease the movement of delegates, forcing commercial drivers on the Eleyele, Mokola Roundabout, Dugbe, Sango, University of Ibadan, Ojoo, Sasa, Oremeji, Oke Itunu, and Agodi Gate routes to seek alternative roads.
The atmosphere within the venue remains vibrant, with thousands of party faithful dressed in the PDP’s trademark green, red, and white colours. Security operatives are stationed at strategic points to maintain peace and order throughout the event.
According to information gathered by Vanguard, voting is expected to begin promptly at 4 p.m., with voting cubicles already arranged at the centre of the pitch, signalling readiness for the main exercise.
