President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja on Tuesday evening after concluding his annual vacation in France.
The presidential jet landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 6:45 p.m., where he was received by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, and other senior government officials.
Tinubu departed Nigeria on September 4, 2025, for France to observe part of his annual leave. He was initially expected to split his holiday between France and the United Kingdom but eventually spent the entire vacation in Paris.
While in France, the President held a private luncheon with French leader Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. Both leaders reviewed bilateral ties, pledging to deepen cooperation in trade, security, and global stability.
This was Tinubu’s seventh trip to Paris since assuming office in May 2023 and his first since attending the BRICS Summit in Brazil and TICAD9 in Japan earlier this year.
So far in 2025, the President has embarked on 15 international trips across 11 countries, attending high-level summits, bilateral meetings, state visits, and international inaugurations.
His travels have included:
- Ghana (January 7): Attended the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama.
- UAE (January 12–16): Participated in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit, holding side talks with Gulf investors.
- Tanzania (January 27–28): Joined the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam.
- Ethiopia (February): Attended the 37th African Union Summit.
- France & UK (April): Two-week working visit.
- Vatican City (May): Witnessed the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.
- Saint Lucia & Brazil (June–August): Addressed CARICOM leaders and attended the BRICS Summit.
- Japan (August): Attended TICAD9, pitching Nigeria’s investment readiness to Japanese multinationals.
- Dubai (twice in 2025): Trade and diplomatic stopovers.
With his return, attention is expected to shift back to domestic governance and ongoing policy implementation, as the President resumes official duties in the capital.
