Funerals took place across the Gaza Strip today as families mourned at least four Palestinians killed in new Israeli attacks, despite a ceasefire technically remaining in effect. Local authorities reported that children were also injured after coming into contact with remnants of previous bombardments that continue to pose daily dangers.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation — a controversial group responsible for food distribution — announced the end of its operations in the territory. The organisation has been widely criticised after more than 800 Palestinians were killed in chaotic incidents near its aid distribution points, where desperate civilians struggled to reach food during extreme shortages.
Beyond Gaza, regional tensions escalated sharply after an Israeli air strike hit Beirut, killing senior Hezbollah commander Haytham Ali Tabatabai and four others. Lebanese officials confirmed the strike targeted a residential neighbourhood, sparking fears of a broader confrontation.
Reacting to the attack, senior Hezbollah figure Mahmoud Qmati said Israel had crossed a “red line,” adding that the group’s leadership was evaluating potential responses.
The ongoing war on Gaza has had devastating consequences. Since October 2023, at least 69,733 Palestinians have been killed and 170,863 wounded, according to Gaza’s health ministry. On the Israeli side, 1,139 people were killed in the October 7, 2023 attacks led by Hamas, and around 200 individuals were taken captive.
