Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2026 Osun governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement personally signed by him on Saturday, October 4, 2025, and obtained by SaharaReporters, Omisore said his decision followed “deep reflection and wide consultations” across the state.
“After deep reflection and wide consultations, I have decided to formally declare my intention to contest for the Governor of Osun State in 2026 under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.
According to the statement, Omisore’s formal declaration will take place on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Osun State APC Secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
He revealed that his campaign would be guided by the theme, “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams.”
Expressing optimism about Osun’s future, Omisore reaffirmed his belief in the people’s collective strength to rebuild the state.
“I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun. This is not just my mission — it is a collective one,” he stated.
The former senator called on his supporters and party members to rally behind his vision for renewal, describing it as a shared mission for transformation.
“I humbly invite you to join me as we take this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026,” he added.
Omisore, who previously represented Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2003 to 2011, has contested in earlier gubernatorial elections in the state but was unsuccessful.
